Required Comment on my Mutual Fund Portfolio

    Hi,

    Can somebody kindly comment if the below Mutual Fund portfolio is ok? My risk appetite: Above Average.

    My portfolio is as follows:

    Very Long Term -15 years: Each Rs. 2500
    HDFC Equity Fund
    Franklin Prima Fund
    Parag Parikh Long Term Value Fund

    Long Term - 7-10 Years: Each Rs. 2500
    ABSL Frontline Equity Fund
    Franklin Equity Fund (Prima Plus)
    HDFC Balanced Fund
    Franklin Blue Chip Fund

    Short Term - 4-5 Years: Each Rs. 2500
    Franklin Hybrid Equity Fund
    ABSL Regular Savings Fund

    IMHO too many funds are there in portfolio.

    If you see stocks in each mutual fund same stocks are there in all.

    Example hdfc bank stock will be there in all portfolio with different allocation.

    So having so many funds in portfolio is not good idea IMHO because diversification is not there.

    Better strategy is to have one Largecap fund and one Midcap small cap fund.

    That gives full diversification.

    In three years or five year average which is best fund from large cap and small cap categories?

    IMHO better to pick two best funds and go with that.
