On 22nd March 2016, the world would be celebrating UN World Water Day. What you will do to make a difference?

If you have some free time and a mobile or tablet (with a good video camera) or a handycam, you have a chance to win more than Rs. 2 Lac in Prizes. How ?

I do my bit by taking a shower every alternate day or every 2-3 days. It helps that I'm lazy and also helps save water. The perfumes and deodorants come to rescue.

BTW didn't check the video or competition details.

I received the following message on my Whatsapp account. It is obviously a forwarded message. But the original author is not known. I am reposting it as I thought it is worth spreading.

Save every drop or drop dead!

One Man NGO (Non Government Orgnization)

We at Drop Dead Foundation believe that living in Mumbai we cannot save mighty Ganga river but we can certainly save a few drops of water wherever we are residing.

SAVE EVERY DROP OR DROP DEAD

A tap that drips once every second waste about 1000 liters 0f water every month. In our first year from Feb. 2007 (International Year of Water) to Feb. 2008 Drop Dead Foundation has visited 1666 houses in Mira Road, fixed 414 leaking taps free of charge and saved about 4.14 lakh liters of water. In the last eight years the average total comes to approximately 3 million liters of water saved. Imagine 3 millian bottles of drinking water saved from going down the drain.

DON’T TALK OF THE PROBLEM, THINK OF THE SOLUTION

You can. One man can. So simple. Be a One Man NGO. You just need one plumber to accompany you. This message is spreading like wild fire, not only in India but abroad also. A German Govt TV channel team from Berlin that spent a full Sunday with us, shot 10 mts film (see video tab) and showed it all over Europe. In India CNN-IBN-7 and other channels telecasted a full documentary on the working of Drop Dead team. Bhaskar Group of newspapers, magazines, FMs, channels of UP are giving our cause all the exposure that it needs. In Maharashtra, Times of India, Mumbai Samachar (Gujarati), Loksatta (Marathi) and other dailies/magazines have given us full support. International celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan have endorsed our efforts to save every drop whole heartedly.

    AT 80 IF I CAN – U CAN.

Friends, to march a step ahead we will need your support. Our future needs are very modest

    1. An office premise around 750 sq. ft. at Mira Rd to work and store posters, pamphlets, stickers, banners for rallies to create awareness etc… So far we are operating from my small residential apartment.

    2. A computer to collect data and other relevant information.

    3. Salary for an assistant cum computer operator to co-ordinate with other NGOs online working on water conservation.

    4. A plumber and a volunteer on payroll with a two wheeler. If any call comes for leakage of water, like fire brigade, they can rush to the spot on two wheeler and correct the leaking tap.
    5. A peon for sundry works
