Thanks for the plant visit update. In the greenfield area next to new painting unit, did you see any factory building construction coming up for next plant or is it still barren land?
Kotak Mahindra Bank – Low Cost Liability Banking Franchise (30-10-2023)
Let’s think of this in terms exit multiples… Year 2028, Book Value consolidated should be Rs. 1200 @ 15% PA growth… taking an exit PB multiple of 2.5, the discounted share price in 2028 should be around Rs. 3000 and at 3 times PB, Rs. 3600. This is between 12% to 15% kind of compounding from here on… there could be some optionality in case they decide to de emerge subsidiaries or if the new CEO does some wonders.
It’s for each of us to decide individually if 12 to 15% compounding is good for us or not.

While everyone likes BK… please note their real competion is from McD . And McD is in a totally different value propostion with full family offering inclusing parties and far easier Gen Z produxts .
Also BK is exposed to indonesia where profit margjns are low and risk is high due to cost
Why not leave it to the experts? (30-10-2023)
Muditji, no I didn’t mean that. Sorry if I sounded like that. My point is that once an retail investor learned the tricks of the trade then he can manage his portfolio by himself with proper risk management. This will save him with annual % fee of his AUM which will be 1.5%-2.5% translating it to around 2 lakh per year approximately initially plus earning 1%-1.5% of dividend yield on his portfolio translating it to around 1.5 lakh per year approximately. So he can earn/save 3-4 lakh per year easily in this manner and the PF if it gives 10%-15% return then he is done from equities with minimum risk. The compounding magic of PF comes into play after 5-7 years of time.
Therefore, if one has time and passion then of course one should manage his own portfolio of large sums.

PPFAS Financial Opportunities Forum (30-10-2023)
Out of curiosity I compared few small cap funds against their index. Rolling returns over 7 years – https://bit.ly/3ScWHr4
Here I have compared few flexi cap funds. Excluded Axis and ICICI since they are only few years old. And included PPFAS Flexi cap fund. – https://bit.ly/3Spq8GB
From historic data, small caps are doing much better than the flexi cap funds.
Since small cap funds tend to go down during a market crash as compared to Mid and Large caps, wondering if it would be a good idea to get into some of these funds during the next major crash.
Ujjivan Financial – Small Finance Bank (30-10-2023)
RIght, I understand the conjecture when it comes to how the market reacts to the banks performance in the future.
In contrast to Equitas, which has its fixed book at ~85%, is there any information about what % of Ujjivans book is at fixed rate? I ask this as yield on current disbursements would be higher for Equitas than Ujjivan if the later has a lower fixed rate book, maybe? This could probably be a cause for the RoA to enter a cyclical downtrend till the cycle of normalizing the RFRs continues.
