As a retail investor, Is it possible to identify Next sector in line at early stage ?
Q1. Typically, by which time frame/by which means do retail investors become aware of a promising sector ?
Q2. Which could be the Big funds/ Big guys to follow, to learn about the sector in the favour ?
If i find recently launched certain quant fund investing in telecom hardware, telecom software, telecom infrastructure, Can we say telecom could be the next sector in a rotation ?
Warm Regards

That is true! But the problem is most of us haven’t seen the volatility and downturn in smallcaps. They may be in downturn or sideways for 5-6 years which will test the patience. I haven’t seen anyone who investing in funds staying that long without redeeming.
So instead of having everything in smallcaps it’s better have optimum allocation across caps.

Mohnish Pabrai also said similar things about wealth management space and probably that is the reason he might have invested in Edelweiss as he mostly might have seen as a demerger opportunity he invest in this business.

I have the the ETprime subscription, so basically they are trying to say that they are very bullish on the wealth management space as in India wealth is managed mostly based on tips from friends and family and that this will change so growth will be very strong. Also they share an important stat that 48% of customers are from urban cities and 52% from rural areas and they are experiencing higher growth in the rural segment as opposed to the notion that wealth management demand would be more in cities, it also talks about the business mix that is changing as previously wealth management had certain fixed products but nowadays personalisation is a key factor based on an Individual’s goals and thus it is very hard to standardize the product. In the end they conclude that though Nuvama is in a very high growth but it is also at an expensive valuation and also share one key thing that their competitors would be banks in the long run but since it is a space where the best fund manager gets the most capital so it is a place where the winner takes all kind of market i.e top 3 players would get majority share in it as it is asset light.

Question:
Does anyone know of a tool similar to the old Google Finance? In case you aren’t aware, the old Google Finance historical stock price chart marked every significant event related to the stock along the x-axis: news stories, dividends, results… Is there any tool similar to that for Indian markets? Hope screener includes these features some day.
Edit:
@pratyushmittal @ayushmit @Parthgarg can we have this feature in screener please? What could be the drawbacks?

Was looking at some of the resolutions passed in recent AGM with regards to upper limit for renumeration revised
Mahesh Chandra Garg & Ramesh Chandra Garg – upper limit of 40 lakhs per month – 4.8 cr per annum + PF, other benefits and gratuity contribution
vs. 1.38 cr renumeration drawn last year
Nitin Garg and Shambhunath Garg – upper limit 25 lakhs per month – 3 cr per annum + PF, other benefits and gratuity contribution
Vs. 1 cr and 10 lakh renumeration drawn last year respectively
Also revision in renumeration of both sons
Manish Garg and Umesh Garg –
upper limit 25 lakhs per month – 3 cr per annum + PF, other expenses and gratuity contribution
So almost 34 CR renumeration at upper limit
How does this compare to other infra companies?
Disc: Was holding earlier.

Very insightful post guys. I have invested in SBI and Quantum small cap (recently looking at its performance). And in SBI small cap in my spouse’s MF portfolio.
If one can time these small cap MF investments, say entry during gloom and exit when they have 20-25% CAGR during long periods, this can give great alpha to our overall MF portfolio. Even long term approach for 10-15 years would work wonders. Investors who cant absorb volatility or loss should strictly stay away.
