Cement demand still sluggish, prices fall
Fight for survival continues in the cement sector as sluggish demand and slow growth ail the sector. Only saving grace is strong demand in East India due to higher spending by state governments. July-September earnings, too, were not anything to be cheerful about.
Adding to the woes will be implementation of goods and service tax (GST) which is likely to become a reality in 2016. "Service tax paid on the transportation cost if is not made…

Right Attitude Is Key To Being A Good Investor: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala (19-12-2015)
What are the attributes that are very important for an investor?
You have to be dogmatic. Between 2006 and 2008, the market doubled and Lupin’s share price was at Rs 600. Over the next six years, the share price jumped to Rs 7,500. India – a 3.5 trillion economy by 2020. (19-12-2015)
Sonal Verma: Yes, India can easily become a 3.5 trn dollar economy by 2020. We are already a USD2trn economy, growing at nominal rate of around 11.5% (7.5% real + 4% inflation). So it is not a tough ask. What we need to do is ensure policies are enacted that sustain our growth at 7.5-8% without generating inflationary pressures.
Sonal Varma, Executive Director & India Economist, Nomura India, said the Indian economy is showing very credible signs of recovery.
