Michael Debabrata Patra, Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India noted in a latest speech that India’s growth trend is on the cusp of a post-pandemic upshift, with early signs of it rising above 7 per cent recorded during the 2000s before COVID-19 struck. While private consumption typically accounts for about 60 per cent of India’s GDP, it is investment and exports that provide the turning points. In the period 2021-24, the export lever has been muted by global headwinds, but public expenditure on infrastructure is taking over as the locomotive of the step-up in the growth trend. Pound Speculative Net Long Position Continue To Fall (01-04-2024)
Large currency speculators in the Pound futures continue to decrease their net long positions, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Pound futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net long position of 35170 contracts in the data reported through March 26 2024. This was a weekly decline of 18030 net contracts.

“Despite the major supply chain challenges arising due to geopolitical issues, the Company has met the expected revenue growth with improved performance for the entire year. Net claims of non-residents on India declined by US$ 12.2 billion during October-December 2023 to US$ 370.4 billion as at end-December 2023, according to a latest update from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The decline in net claims was due to the higher rise in Indian residents’ overseas financial assets (US$ 40.7 billion) as compared to the increase in foreign-owned assets in India (US$ 28.5 billion).
