NSE, BSE to introduce surveillance mechanism for micro-small firms on Jun 5 (04-06-2023)
To curb volatility in small-cap counters, leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE have put in place an enhanced surveillance mechanism for companies that have a market cap of less than Rs 500 crore.
The Enhanced Surveillance Measure (ESM) will be effective from June 5.
Sebi and exchanges in a joint meeting have decided to introduce ESM framework for “micro-small” companies (on the main board with market cap less than Rs 500 crore), the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE said in two separate circulars on Friday.
The parameters for shortlisting the securities under the ESM framework include high-low price variation and close-to-close price variation.
Under the framework, the exchanges said, “… the trading for these securities will be settled through a trade for trade mechanism with a price band of 5 per cent or 2 per cent (if the scrip is already in the 2 per cent band).”

Mcap of 7 most-valued firms erodes by Rs 65,656 cr; RIL biggest laggard (04-06-2023)
The combined market valuation of seven of the top-10 most-valued firms eroded by Rs 65,656.36 crore last week, with Reliance Industries taking the biggest hit, amid a muted trend in domestic equities.
Last week, the BSE benchmark gained 45.42 points or 0.07 per cent, and the Nifty climbed 34.75 points or 0.18 per cent.
While Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, ITC, Infosys and HDFC were the laggards, Hindustan Unilever, State Bank of India and Bharti Airtel witnessed addition in their market valuations.
The market valuation of Reliance Industries eroded by Rs 34,910.54 crore to Rs 16,60,923.11 crore.
ICICI Bank’s valuation tumbled Rs 9,355.65 crore to Rs 6,55,197.93 crore and that of Infosys fell by Rs 7,739.51 crore to Rs 5,38,923.48 crore.
The market capitalisation (mcap) of TCS declined by Rs 7,684.01 crore to Rs 12,10,414.19 crore and that of HDFC Bank dived Rs 5,020.13 crore to Rs 8,97,722.23 crore.

Flex space demand among Indian corporates rises to 10-12%: Colliers (03-06-2023)
Indian corporates are fast embracing flexible workspace which now accounts for 10-12 per cent of their real estate portfolio compared to 5-8 per cent pre-COVID pandemic, according to Colliers.
Real estate consultant Colliers has recently released a report ‘Global Occupier Outlook 2023′ that revealed that many corporates in Asia Pacific are deferring decisions on taking office space on lease as they are grappling with the complexities of the hybrid work model.
“The lack of clarity and macroeconomic uncertainty are posing challenges for businesses in projecting their space requirements,” it added.
According to Colliers’ experts, companies are facing the dilemma of striking a balance between providing employees with desired flexibility and realigning their portfolios for the next evolution of the workplace.
However, Colliers said that Indian office space occupiers have been quick to adopt flex spaces, attracted by the flexibility, agility, and cost-effectiveness.
