Benchmarks nudge higher; Sensex adds 191 pts (15-10-2024)
At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 190.86 points or 0.23% to 82,165.60. The Nifty 50 index rose 49.50 points or 0.20% to 25,177.45.
Dollar Index captures 103 mark; US retail sales in focus (15-10-2024)
The US dollar index is steadily rising and has gained momentum to a near two month high as investors are pricing a moderation in Federal rate cuts as against an aggressive path earlier. The Fed has indicated that it will monitor incoming data to adjust the pace of its monetary easing policy accordingly. The latest US economic data showed that the labor market remains resilient, while consumer inflation came in stronger-than-expected in September. The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the USD against a basket of six currencies are quoting at 103.05, its best level since August this year. For the week, Thursdays Retail Sales will be key for dollar direction. Among basket currencies, EURUSD and GBPUSD gain only marginally and are seen at $1.09 and $1.30 respectively.

GOI announces the sale of three dated securities for a notified amount of ₹33,000 crore (15-10-2024)
The Government of India (GoI) has announced the sale (re-issue) of (i) 7.02% Government Security 2031 for a notified amount of ₹10,000 crore (nominal) through price based auction using multiple price method, (ii) 7.23% Government Security 2039 for a notified amount of ₹13,000 crore (nominal) through price based auction using multiple price method and (iii) 7.09% Government Security 2054 for a notified amount of ₹10,000 crore (nominal) through price based auction using multiple price method. GoI will have the option to retain additional subscription up to ₹2,000 crore against each security mentioned above. The auctions will be conducted by the Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Office, Fort, Mumbai on October 18, 2024 (Friday). Up to 5% of the notified amount of the sale of the securities will be allotted to eligible individuals and institutions as per the Scheme for Non-Competitive Bidding Facility in the Auction of Government Securities.
