Barometers end flat, private banks drag (21-05-2024)
The domestic stocks ended almost flat today, clawing back from early losses. Metal and PSU bank shares surged, but private lenders and FMCG stocks dragged. Worries linger after cautious comments from the US Fed officials and continued foreign investor outflows.
Pound Steadies Above $1.27 Mark Ahead Of UK Inflation Report (21-05-2024)
The British pound is steadying near a two-month high above $1.27 mark on Tuesday ahead of UK inflation reading. Besides, a slight pullback in dollar index from intraday gains is also benefitting the Britain currency. The dollar index futures rose to 104.60 earlier in the day extending gains from the previous session as Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said that it will take time before the central bank is confident that inflation will return to 2%, reiterating that only one rate cut will be necessary this year. Investors now look ahead to the latest FOMC minutes this week to guide the outlook further. Meanwhile, GBPUSD is currently quoting at $1.2718, marginally up on the day and at its best level since 22nd March this year.
Singapore Exchange Market ends lower (21-05-2024)
At closing bell, the Straits Times Index (STI) index was down 6.15 points, or 0.19% to 3,307.90 after trading between 3,293.93 and 3,314.30. Across the broader market, decliners outpaced advancers 330 to 245, with 1.20 billion securities worth S$920.83 million changed hands.
Hong Kong Market tumbles 2.1% (21-05-2024)
At closing bell, the benchmark Hang Seng Index stumbled 415.60 points, or 2.12%, to 19.220.62. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 144.02 points, or 2.07%, to 6,820.97.
Arvind Fashions gains as PAT climb 25% YoY in Q4 FY24 (21-05-2024)
Arvind Fashions added 4.37% to Rs 490.40 after the speciality retailer's consolidated net profit jumped 25.3% to Rs 40.21 in Q4 FY24 as compared with Rs 32.09 crore in Q4 FY23.

Sebi amends rule to facilitate ease of doing biz for firms planning IPOs (21-05-2024)
To facilitate ease of doing business for companies planning IPOs, Sebi has said any change in the size of offer for sale (OFS) requiring fresh filing will be based on only one of the criteria -- either issue size in rupee or number of shares.
Further, promoter group entities and non-individual shareholders holding more than 5 per cent of the post-offer equity share capital can be permitted to contribute towards the shortfall in minimum promoters' contribution (MPC) without being identified as a promoter, according to a notification issued by Sebi.
Companies promoted by entrepreneurs often have several rounds of funding prior to listing their equity shares on the stock exchanges. In such situations, the promoters' holding may fall short of the minimum promoter contribution i.e., 20 per cent of the post-offer equity share capital.
