With equity markets exhibiting quite a bit of volatility, balanced funds have emerged as an attractive investment options for investors, a top official of mutual fund firm DSP BlackRock said today.
Balanced funds are chosen by investors who like the returns that equity provide along with the safety of debt, company Vice-President and Fund Manager Vinit Sambre told reporters here.
He said, DSP BlackRock Blanced Fund had given 16 per cent compounded annual returns since its inception in 1999.
DSP balanced fund delivered 11 per cent returns in the last one year, outperforming its benchmark by a large margin which generated two per cent in the same period, he claimed.
Moreover, the scheme was suitable for investors who seek to generate long-term capital appreciation and current income from a portfolio constituted of equity and equity related securities as well as fixed income securities, he added.
To a question, he said, “If need arises we will launch new funds for the benefit of the people, since the Indian economy is growing at a faster pace.”
