Domestic equity markets are closed on Thursday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. Trading on bourses will resume on Friday.
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed 1 per cent and 0.89 per cent higher at 25963.97 and 7899.15 on Wednesday.
Rest of Asian markets edged up to a three-week high on Thursday while the dollar drifted lower against other currencies as investors consolidated positions ahead of a nail-biting US Federal Reserve policy decision. Shanghai, Nikkei and Hang Seng were up 0.51 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.77 per cent at 3168.31, 18367.60 and 22,136.36.
The US Fed is considering raising interest rates for the first time since 2006, although economists are split in their expectations. The Fed’s decision is due at 1800 GMT(around 11.30 pm IST).
