What they mean to say is that there could be some shady deal where the stocks were apparently bought at market rates but the acquirer got under the table money from the promoters to buy the stock and bring it into limelight. Has been known to happen in smallcaps. Might be a clean deal too. But it’s always better to be sceptical.
