I believe you can do something like this
assumptions
Car needs to be charged every day for 8 hrs overnight
Average car battery : 80kwh/car
no. of EV cars/city : 10,000
no. of cities: 20
Energy needs: 20 cities x 10,000 cars x 80kwh =16,000MW /day extra power needed country wide
I believe the time for charging too should come into play but my eleccy maths is a bit weak(should I mulitply by 8hr to get 126GWh?)
More educated readers can chime in. But the broad numbers are in the ballpark for the initial assumptions.
