I am curious to know how is the capital gains taxes in USA?
Do they have similar tax structure like India, that, 1 year is considered as Long Term (for some reasons) and all gains after that are taxed at Fixed Rate without any indexation benefit? Long term taxation ideally should allow indexation benefit, but our taxation system does not allow indexation benefit in spite of charging tax on LTCG.
Companies pay taxes and distribute dividends from their Post Tax Income which is also taxed in our system, hence curious to know if such double taxation prevails in developed nations as well apart from USA.
This is slight diversion from main topic but it would be good to know.
