Managing money involves two dimensions: internal and external. Internal includes goal-based investing and determining objectives, savings, and asset allocation based on current status. External involves finance and the different investment styles used by asset management companies, such as value-based, growth-based, sector-based, and index-based. The investing styles used by funds may change, but some are clearly defined by their mandate. For individual investors, both dimensions are critical and a two-dimensional strategy is needed for successful investment.
