The Indian rupee traded steady in the morning session against the US dollar on Tuesday, showing muted activity in domestic equities and a weak American currency. The rupee opened the day at 81.95 to the dollar, while the dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a bucket of six currencies, stood at 101.33, down 0.02%. Meanwhile, global benchmark Brent crude futures dropped 0.01% to $82.72 per barrel. Foreign fund outflows were seen as also weighing on the Indian currency.
