Congress will have to douse Bajrang fire in Kalyana Karnataka region to save its turf
The region comprising seven districts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Yadgir, Koppal, Ballari and Vijaynagar is considered the most backward in Karnataka. AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge, who hails from the region, is remembered for getting the region a special status under Article 371-J during the UPA II. This helps those from the region with jobs in government and PSUs and in educational admissions.
