Afzalpur is like a mini-Karnataka with candidates moving from one party to another. MY Patil, the Congress MLA has been in several parties – Congress, JDS and now back to Congress. His main rival Malikayya Guttedar is a six-term MLA, who has represented Congress, KCP, JDS and is now in BJP. Nitin Guttedar is contesting as Independent against his brother.
