Manipur High Court order to include Meiteis in ST List wrong: CJI
The Supreme Court has said that the order of the Manipur High Court for including Meiteis in the list of Scheduled Tribes was factually incorrect and against the principles laid down by a Constitution bench on classification of communities in the SC/ST list. The order led to violent clashes between tribal and non-tribal communities in Manipur.
