Fag-end buying drives Sensex 298 pts higher on hopes of US debt ceiling deal
The Indian equity markets closed higher on Friday after a volatile session, led by stocks of Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, and IT companies. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex rose 298 points or 0.48% to settle at 61,729. The blue-chip Nifty 50 index gained 73 points or 0.41% to end at 18,203.
