US stock market: Wall Street ends mixed as investors await debt ceiling talks

Wall Street closed mixed on Monday, with the S&P 500 almost flat as investors refrained from making big bets ahead of a fresh round of talks on raising the US debt ceiling. The Nasdaq was boosted by gains in Alphabet and Meta Platforms, while the Dow Jones lost 0.42%. Investors are optimistic there’s at least a 60:40 likelihood that an agreement will be reached in time in relation to raising the federal debt ceiling and concerns about a default are beginning to ease.
