The Congress has questioned the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) inquiry into the Adani group. Congress General Secretary Communications Jairam Ramesh claimed SEBI was seeking data on financial institutions to exonerate the group and whether its actions were a public-relations move. The Adani group’s stock crashed amid allegations of fraudulent transactions and share-price manipulation by US short seller Hindenburg Research, claims the group denied.
