Congress accused Prime Minister Modi of denying President Draupadi Murmu her Constitutional privilege to inaugurate the new Parliament building. As many as 20 opposition parties, including Congress, Left, TMC, SP, and AAP, decided to boycott the event, citing the absence of the \”soul of democracy\”. Separately, Asaduddin Owaisi said his party would not attend the event if Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla did not inaugurate the new building. In response, the BJP-led NDA called the opposition stand a \”blatant affront to democratic ethos and constitutional values of our great nation\”.
