Opposition parties are likely to meet in Patna on June 12 to discuss strategy ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, said Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, a senior JD(U) leader. The meeting is expected to be attended by most parties opposed to the BJP. Chaudhary said JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar had taken the initiative but opposition unity was becoming a reality only because of support within like-minded parties. Chaudhary also criticised the Modi government’s tenure and mocked the recent “Nau saal bemisaal” campaign, while rubbishing claims about the sceptre installed at the new Parliament building being a symbol of the transfer of power.
