Manipur gun battles continue; Amit Shah begins state visit; ethnic clashes started on May 3

Defence sources said on Sunday, Army mobilised columns to establish multiple Mobile Vehicle Check Posts and undertake search operations on receiving information about the presence of armed miscreants venturing out to burn houses in Sanasabi, Gwaltabi and Shabunkhol Khunao in YKPI bowl in the hilly region of Imphal East district. While operating, the Army columns were fired upon with automatic weapons by miscreants who were trying to burn the houses.
