The US dollar fell slightly against a basket of major currencies after the US debt ceiling was agreed. The dollar index, which tracks the US currency against six major peers, eased to 104.17, down 0.125% on the day. Investors remained cautious as lawmakers still need to pass the 99-page bill before the current debt limit of $31.4tn is reached on Monday. Although Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the government would default if Congress did not increase the debt ceiling by 5 June, the uncertainty is likely to persist until the issue is resolved.
