The Congress party expressed its concern over the “horrendous” train accident in Odisha, emphasising the significance of prioritising safety in the operation of the railway network. With the involvement of the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train, the tragic incident in Balasore district resulted in the loss of nearly 300 lives and left around 1000 individuals injured.
