I think Disney opens very large parks even bigger than wonderla’s bengaluru park. I think Disney may face land acquisition issues and much more cost in comparison to the wonderla’s asset heavy parks. If you look at Chennai for instance wonderla has been working on it for more than 5 years. Even now the company hasn’t been able to start construction there. They have decided to go with a asset light model for the new parks. I think the various regulations and land acquisition could be a major deterrent for Disney. Now, as for a new player from India, I don’t think it is an easy business. Even for a company like wonderla with all its experience and in house team the business has not been easy. I think company is also strong enough to withstand competition from local players. For instance, there are two other water theme parks in Kochi alone. Something that I like about wonderla is the large unused land they have in each of their parks. How they utilise these lands could be a major value creator sometime in the future.
