Tamil Nadu’s Electricity Minister, V Senthil Balaji, was sent to 14-day judicial custody after being arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). The arrest follows after hours-long raids were conducted at his premises in Chennai and Karur alongside his office located at Secretariat. The arrest was made under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Balaji was a four-time MLA and a cabinet member under the late J Jayalalithaa’s government.
