The BJP has said that the Karnataka finance department has an inability to provide additional grant for payment of wages and fuel prices for a scheme to offer free bus rides in non-premium buses to women, which was launched by CM Siddarammaiah, on 11 June. The move means 98,58,518 women have travelled free in state buses in the first three days of the scheme, at a cost of Rs 21.06 crores to the state exchequer. The BJP has questioned whether Congress must pay for the initiative.
