Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde accused his predecessor Uddhav Thackeray of compromising Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray’s principles to join hands with the NCP and Congress, calling him a “traitor.” Speaking at an event to mark the 57th foundation day of Shiv Sena, Shinde stated that allegations of treachery against him and his supporters would not help Thackeray gain public sympathy. Amid a backdrop of ongoing ethnic clashes in Manipur, Thackeray criticised PM Narendra Modi’s US tour and retorted with Hindutva criticisms, questioning why he was not visiting Manipur.
