The Congress party has criticized the all-party meeting called by Home Minister Amit Shah on the Manipur situation as being too little too late. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal claimed that any effort for peace must take place in Manipur, not Delhi, where warring factions are gathered at the discussion table. Venugopal has also accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of employing divisive politics in the region and claimed President’s Rule was required.
