The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board has requested an extension of the 30-day deadline for submitting views on adopting a Uniform Civil Code. The board argues that due to the complexity of the issue, organizations and the public should be given at least six months to provide their opinions. The board’s response to the Law Commission will highlight that Muslim personal laws are derived from the Quran and Hadees, and that the concept of uniformity in laws is not aligned with the diverse realities of different states in India.
