The soaring price of Apple shares is causing concern for fund managers who may not own enough of the stock. Apple’s weight in stock indexes has reached record levels, with its market capitalization exceeding $3 trillion. However, many investors have smaller allocations to Apple than its relative weighting in indexes due to concerns about holding too much of one position or regulatory limitations. This could hurt the performance of active fund managers who aim to outperform indexes. Only 26 out of 418 US broad market funds have a greater weight in Apple than its weight in the S&P 500.
