Administration of oath to Justice Umesh Kumar as DERC chairperson stands deferred: Supreme Court
The Indian Supreme Court has deferred the appointment of Umesh Kumar as chairperson of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), and decided to examine the constitutional validity of a provision in an ordinance governing such an appointment. The court has issued notices to the Indian government and Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena on the Delhi government’s plea challenging the appointment.
