Court can’t be used to escalate Manipur violence, observes SC
Speaking for the bench, the CJI orally remarked that the court “must be conscious” that it is “not running security or law and order”. Observing that it is a “humanitarian issue and needs to be looked at from that angle”, the CJI added: “If we start running law and order, then what is the elected government for? We have to be conscious of the remit of the Supreme Court.”
