TMC sweeps West Bengal rural polls, bags over 34,000 gram panchayat seats
The Trinamool Congress is set to win a major victory in West Bengal’s rural polls, with unassailable leads in more than 34,000 gram panchayat seats, 6,134 panchayat samiti seats and all of 554 Zila Parishad seats. The election season has been marred by widespread violence, with 33 people dying in poll-related incidents and allegations of vote tampering and violence from various parties.
