CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury has rejected an alliance with the TMC in West Bengal and said that in the state, secular parties will unite alongside the Left and Congress, to take on the BJP and the TMC. The comments were made in the lead-up to a two-day meeting attended by the TMC’s Mamata Banerjee and leaders of 26 other opposition parties in Bengaluru. They are expected to produce work on a common minimum programme and an agitational plan to oppose the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
