On the first day of the Monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature, 27 of the 53 NCP MLAs did not attend the session. One of the MLAs, Nawab Malik, is in custody for money laundering. Among the 24 MLAs who were present, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and eight cabinet ministers were seated on the ruling side while the remaining NCP MLAs were seated on the opposition’s side. The Chief Whip of the NCP wrote to the Speaker asking for separate seating arrangements for the Ajit Pawar camp and the rest of the party to form different teams.
