Govt says fresh consultations on UCC needed due to importance of subject, court orders
The Indian government’s law commission has begun new consultations on a proposed uniform civil code (UCC), according to Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. Meghwal noted that the 22nd Law Commission initiated this due to the “relevance and importance” of the subject and various court orders.
