Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly, has filed an FIR against Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, and Abhishek Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress national general secretary, over their call to besiege BJP leaders’ residences. This call was made during the annual Martyrs’ Day rally of their party. Adhikari claimed that such a call could lead to security threats to BJP leaders and workers. Other opposition parties and rights bodies have also condemned this program and called it unthinkable and undemocratic.
