Shiv Sena Party MP Sanjay Raut has defended an opposition group’s recent visit to the Indian state of Manipur, which was hit by ethnic violence. A multi-party delegation from the Indian Nationalist Democratic Alliance visited the region to “bring about psychological healing” for people affected by the clashes. In response to criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Raut said it was the responsibility of the opposition to visit the troubled area and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to do so.
