The BJP has rejected criticism from opposition parties who claim that the Indian government is pushing its legislative programme through before addressing a no-confidence motion. Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, Piyush Goyal, insisted that neither rules nor precedence make it mandatory for the party to prove its majority first.
