Lok Sabha clears Delhi Services Bill amid uproar by Opposition
India’s Lok Sabha has passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, granting the central government in Delhi primacy over the Delhi government on officer appointments. The bill will reverse a Supreme Court ruling in May that allowed the Delhi government control over administrative services. The legislation was opposed by opposition parties including the Aam Aadmi Party.
