In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index jumped 0.9 percent to 15,920.92 points and the Paris CAC 40 rallied 1.3 percent to 7,366.01. Bank shares had slumped Tuesday after Italy imposed a windfall tax on lenders and owing to concerns over the health of the sector in the United States.
