Proposed election commisioners selection bill ploy to rig 2024 LS poll, says TMC

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has alleged that the proposed bill that aims to regulate the selection of the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners is a move by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to rig the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. Future CEC and election commissioners will be selected by a three-member panel headed by the prime minister and comprising the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha besides a cabinet minister, according to the bill listed for introduction in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
