Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticized the Karnataka government’s decision to scrap the National Education Policy (NEP) as “politically-motivated” and anti-progress. The state’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, announced that NEP will be discontinued from the next academic year since he believes BJP is anti-constitution concerning the education policy. The Congress party had criticized NEP, calling it the “Nagpur Education Policy aimed at propagating RSS’s agenda.” Karnataka became the first to adopt NEP in higher education in August 2021.
