The Election Commission is considering whether to hold bypolls for four vacant parliamentary seats in India, namely Ambala, Pune, Chandrapur, and Ghazipur. These seats became vacant between March and May this year due to the death or disqualification of the sitting MPs. According to the Representation of the People Act, bypolls should be held within six months of a vacancy, but there is uncertainty because the general elections are less than a year away. The Election Commission may consult with the Law ministry to discuss the issue.
