Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the single day assembly session in Manipur, calling it a “farce” as the state government prevented any discussion on the prevailing situation and moving of resolutions. Ramesh stated that the ruling party’s reluctance to have a longer session was to avoid displaying differences within the BJP. He also pointed out that the boycott of the session by all 10 Kuki MLAs, including 7 from the BJP, highlighted the deep divide in the state. Congress leaders accused the BJP government of suppressing opposition voices and neglecting their responsibilities to restore peace in Manipur.
