‘Headline numbers’ overstated by full percentage point: Congress on Q1 GDP growth
The Congress party has alleged that the GDP numbers for the first quarter of the current fiscal are overstated by 1%, due to the price deflators used. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that even if the growth rate for 2022-23 hovers around 6%, rising incomes for the majority of Indians will not be achieved due to growing inequality.
